Darren and Madhats

Born and raised in Aberdeen, South Dakota, Darren Geffre started writing music and lyrics when he was 12 years old.  Since then, he has pushed his pop/rock music all over the globe.  Darren's music has captured fans of all ages.   Darren has been playing and singing in bands since the age of 16 with previous groups such as Black Diamond, Crimson and "Nammy" Nominated group "Wakinyan".

His stage presence is distinguished by his vibrant energy. Darren's original music was nominated for a 2001 Native American Music Award for the single "If I Ever", in the category of Best Independent Recording. Darren's album "Uncivilized" has sold over 9000 copies, enough to get him a 2004 entry level "Grammy" nominated for "Best New Artist" and "Album of the Year".

He has been featured on LA's legendary Pacifica Radio, NPR (National Public Radio), National Native News, The American Indian Cable Network - Comcast, XM Satellite Radio, Darren was August 2003's "Music Maker of the Month" on nationally syndicated "Native America Calling", Men's Health Magazine, Native People's Magazine, APTN (Aboriginal People's Television Network), TNT's "Into the West" and ABC Family's "Wildfire" pilot in 2005.

Darren's music landed #1 on 9 different CMJ College Radio stations in 2003 and he can be heard on 180 radio stations across the United States and Canada including XM Satellite radio.  Darren is also the first Native American Artist to be on Podcasting. Darren's latest CD was produced by Duncan Pain and Pop Maestro Peter Amato.

Darren recently won the award for "Outstanding Musical Performance" for 2003 from FAITA (First Americans in the Arts).  Won the 2004 "Award of Distinction" Music Video Award at Indian Summerfest in Milwaukee, WI, Darren was also nominated for "Best Pop Album" at Indian Summerfest 2004.  Darren was featured twice in "Men's Health Magazine", once in December 2002 and then again in August 2005 for his incredible 125 pound weight loss.

Darren's constant drive and determination is making him something to reckon with in the music industry.
