Michael Jacobs, Member of the Western Cherokee Nation.
Michael Jacobs has been called, "A painter with words and music," and he is! He, always will be . . . He has won the prestigious "Native American Music Award" in 2003 and nominated again in 2005. His music will speak for itself, "I've heard his guitar, float like a butterfly on wild flowers, then raises to buffalo running through water," in the same song! Last August in Minneapolis, he took off on a acoustic solo that made "Classical Gas, by Mason Williams" sound like "chop sticks,." He also plays the flute, depending on the mood you're in, at first he catches the ear then you just drift with the melody, "never fails." If you can imagine a Cherokee, " Roy Orbison" then you are pretty close to his vocal range, from tenor to the high notes back to a tenor to bass, prefect enunciation with real emotion behind it, just like "Roy"..., only there's an occasional "49" just cause it feels good. His live performances are constantly re-birthing, metamorphosing, when he's on stage his whole being is in the song he's singing.
