Wade Fernandez, Menominee Nation, Menominee, Wisconsin, USA, 37, contemporary native musical maestro, will be honored for the month of March 2006, as the Indigenous Internet Chamber of Commerce Artist of the Month.
Wade grew up on the Menominee reservation in Wisconsin. Since the age of ten Wade has loved his guitar. Wade has synthesized his traditional cultural teachings and language with his contemporary and traditional musical gifts to create a musical landscape in which to share his vision. Wade wants to share his gifts to inspire us and our children to create our future. Wade can see the big picture and inspires us to see as well. His music is universal and touches the soul.
Wade Fernandez has recently release a music video entitled "Commodity Cheese Blues" which is based on a true story. (The video will play automatically on this page.)
Wade has released several collections of music, some of which are sold out, and was nominated for several awards and honors, including the Nammys (Native American Music Awards).
Wade contacted me after our interview to update me. He will be performing at the Native American Music Awards show in Hollywood, Florida, on June 8, 2006.
