"The Elk Soldier drum group hail from Marty, South Dakota. We came together after I had a dream about a warrior. His name was Hehaka Akicita interpreted in english to Elk Soldier. He told us to use his name and our music to help the people so I prayed about it and everything started coming together. We just want to dedicate our music to the people and the dancers and all you rocking drum groups. Looking forward to jammin wit y'alls on the trail. Pidamaya!"

"Ate Wakan Tanka, the Creator God, first of all is our biggest influence and guide to where we are in our walk as a drum group."
"Northern Cree, Bear Creek, Blackstone, Eyabay, Southern Cree, Whitefish Jr. have all been a big influence on our singing. They've all been a big influence on me growing up and helped me to be the best singer I could be because their music moved my heart to try and be a great singer just like them."
"They all just go and rock the powwow world and that's what we want to do. They put it on the table and go with the flow."
"We would like to thank Mr. Steven Butler and Canyon records for recording our music so we can share it with our people. Thank you."
