February 06 Vivian Guerra

Ms. Vivian Guerra, member of the Tigua Band, Pueblo Nation of the Yselta Del sur, founder and President  of NDN Drywall Inc., a Minnesota-based business that specializes in all aspects of drywall framing, hanging, finishing and spray texturing, will be honored as our Entrepreneur of the Month for the month of February 2006.

Ms. Guerra started out her career in the construction trades as a union taper. She was subsequently laid-off and with her last unemployment check she incorporated a roofing company and became a contractor. As her career evolved, she started her drywall business to meet the demand.

Ms. Guerra has also fostered successful business relationships, partnering with Mulcahy Drywall, Ryan Construction and many others.  Ms. Guerra  has chosen to work with reputable contractors, often doing repeat business with them.

"Vivian is very much an entrepreneur,"  said Larry Knudsen, President of Two Buffalo.  "She is very energetic and she likes to get out and meet people," he added.  Knudsen said Guerra's efforts to hire locally has helped bring new monies to the area. "I like to see that,"  he said.  "In her company, Vivian is always looking to hire Indigenous people to work with her.  She has created jobs and then hired the local people to fill those jobs. This has made a real difference."

"Vivian worked with me at Two Buffalo many years ago. She was a roofing contractor and definitely was not afraid of hard work.  I couldn't believe she wanted a try at roofing.  She did it.  I'm very proud of her and happy to see her succeed in a very competitive business," said Knudsen.

Ms. Guerra became a member of the Indigenous Internet Chamber of Commerce at our inception.  She also serves our Chamber as a member of our Board of Directors.
