Not all people and or companies want the same thing nor have the same needs. That is why I enjoy developing websites tailor made (by me) using artistic creativity for each client. My prices are competitive and simple. I don't believe people should have to pay web hosting fees every month because that's double the cost and time. That's why I charge 1 flat rate a year. Minor updates are done once a month a no additional cost (for customers with a website built by me).

Tell us about yourself?
I am a new year??™s baby, I was born in League City, Texas right outside of Houston. When I was 2 my mom and dad separated, dad and I moved to Southeast Houston, Texas, a very rough part of town. I didn??™t see my mom again until I was 13 years old. I learnt a lot growing up there, things you can??™t learn in a collage or by ear. ???Street smarts??? can be a useful tool believe it or not, in all aspect of life, whether it is professional, foreign, young or old and all in between. I m glad I have developed an in depth understanding of various diverse backgrounds, personality types and coulters. That ???life tool??? enables me to serve a wider variety of potential clients interested in my services. For example I offer Spanish language websites and I understand that culture. Best of all I learn to see the beauty in struggle, strengthened my will to succeed and compete, importance of family, communication and going above and beyond to conquer a task. By age 9, I graduate from modeling school and an art school. By age 13 I had won many writing and art awards as well. By 19 I was studying psychology as an interest and was friends with many Houston area men and women psychologist, Drs and professors. Because of my natural instinctive understanding of society and people, we always had a lot to talk about. I married at 21, started a family and by 1999 had developed a strong interest in web design.
Can you let us know about Starr Deluna Enterprise?
In 2002 I started working for a small web design firm, after seeing so many small businesses where unable to afford web design I was inspired to start my own Web Design company. I had the tools, skills and desire to help others. Starr De Luna Artistic Visual Designs was originally called DLDevelops, for De Luna Develops.com. For my own reasons I changed the name of my company to MY NAME. Starr De Luna.com I serve start up, small, infomercial to large web design and visual marketing needs.
Who influenced you the most with your new companies?
My greatest influence in life I would say was my dad and his business partner, very successful, old school yet modern business men. They just always got it done. They network thru each other and make money. However one can be influenced in many ways! Their influence thought me to be careful not to neglect family and customer satisfaction over money and not to become a ???workaholic???. Now that the smoke cleared and they are in their later years, those two things didn??™t pay off well for them. With all do respect, they are ???rich??? in money, not in spirit, family or happiness. I care about my client??™s needs, time and budget. I never want to impose regrets for me nor for my clients.
What services do you offer?
I offer artistic web design service and visual marketing. I base a business theme by art. I offer semantic and traditional web design. I also domain name, hosting, email, I design forms, business cards, flyers etc.
You must have vision to design a website from scratch, what are you greatest challenges working with new clients and their vision?

Many times art inspires my work and I start from all my work from scratch. After meeting with a client via phone or in person, I understand their expectations; colors come to mind as well as a theme, I design a few concept ideas and get things moving quickly for my clients.
You mention concept pages when designing a website, describe this to us?
Concept pages are Ideas , themes, brandings and so on that I have designed in my spare time or when an idea is hatched. Concept pages are for sale, when one is bought by a business or person, their logo and content replaces the CONCEPT logo and content. My concept pages also demonstrate my capabilities as a web site artist. Concept pages are custom themes and layouts I put together from scratch and are for sale.
In today??™s economy, what are you biggest challenges today selling you services?
My biggest challenge right now to be honest is that small business owners are being impacted financially due to the economy. This disables them to budget some necessities for their business development and growth, such as a website. For this I am offering a ???slow economy discount??? of 5%-10%, I will offer this discount throughout 2009, again to help small business owners grow and or maintain their business.
Where do the majority of sales originate from?
Majoraty of my sales are generated by ???word of mouth??? from pleased customers and the uniqueness of my work. Other clients find me through web searches on the internet.
How are your sales from your internet store?
I currently do not selling my web service online, I make tailored agreements and arrangements with each client via phone or person. There is no internet store through my website. However, I will be offering my photography online store soon.
What is your feeling about being a new entrepreneur?
I really enjoy being a new entrepreneur. It is challenging and I like interacting with people, new clients, networking and so on. Owning this business and being an entrepreneur enables me to exercise my creativity and artistic abilities. I love being able to offer small business owners a unique tailor made website, that will represent them and function on a corporate level at a small business price. For example my clients get turn keys prices, no monthly fees, 24/6 service and fast completion of their site.
Who were your mentor's growing up?
I was my own mentor as a child and still am today. I can??™t explain how much of an understanding I got from being forced to work out my own problems all the time. You see I had no brothers or sisters, no mom, and my dad that worked all the time. The schools I went to offered no mentoring or support either. I prevailed, climbed the ladder with a greater understanding of life and the gift of a dash of knowledge.
What is your favorite annual Powwow?
Traders Village!! Just outside of Houston, Texas, I have enjoyed the festival on many occasions. When I was a little girl my dad also took me a few times. The colors, activates, original sounds, teepees and dances are amazing. There is much more. This festival is huge and once a year for several days. Last time there was a wolf the size of a small horse! The middle aged Indian man owner had the wolf unbelievably tamed, peaceful and graceful! That almost 300lb. animal obviously loved his master and obeyed his every command as if they were in harmony with each other, I know they were friends at peace with each other, that??™s for sure. That wasn??™t the highlight of the festival but it caught my attention. I also learnt that it is disrespectful for a woman to touch the attire of a male Indian. When I was about 17 I reached to touch an older Indian man??™s authentic powwow attire (he was wearing) and he jumped back away from me and he motioned ???no??? with his finger to me. I assumed it was a disrespectful act and I immediately apologized. I didn??™t know, but I learnt something new.
Do you have advice for young Indigenous Entrepreneur??™s?
My advice to new entrepreneurs is always having a positive attitude! Know your priorities in life such as; spiritual, physical, family and mental health. Be understanding and open minded to others and the world you live in, seek knowledge and learn new things! Be serious about your business, firm in your expectations and dedicate your best to yourself and clients. I get tired of going into or calling a business and it sounds like I??™m talking to a robot. The representative or owners seem to sound so rehearsed many times, after what is not important to me or in my best interest. So with that being said, try to develop a desire to honestly care and help your customers; don??™t just look at them as a number are a price.
What can we expect from Starr Deluna this year?
You can always expect consistency from me. I strive to be an ???uplifter???. I want clients to feel content and satisfied. I want us both to succeed. This year I will also open my photo and sketch art galleries 5/01/09 and by late 2009 some photography will be for sale. I would like to grow and expand my business more each year. I have new ideas for new and current clients and growing my business for 09. |
