Ind?gena aut?ctono que naci? en la Reserva Ind?gena Palenque Tonjibe Reserva de los Malekus el 20 de diciembre de 1959, casado y padre de cinco hijos. He was born to the Indigenous Tribe, in the village of Tonjibe, on the reservation of the Maleku, in Costa Rica, on December 20th, 1959, married and father of five children.
Hijo de Ofelia Elizondo Mu?oz y Manuel Morera ?lvarez, hombre con firmeza y gran sabidur?a fue el ejemplo para seguir sus pasos en medio de la pobreza bajo creencias y costumbres de su cultura. Son of Ofelia Elizondo Munoz y Manuel Morera Alvarez, he was a man of firm yet great wisdom. He was an example to follow living with poverty and following the beliefs of his culture.
Wilson, mas conocido como “Tafa” significado en su lengua natal Malek? Jaica esp?ritu del Jaguar, que refleja habilidades como inteligencia, car?cter, pureza, sabidur?a y liderazgo. Wilson, also known as Tafa, which meant in his Maleku mother tongue, the Spirit of the Jaguar, reflected abilities which showed intelligence, character, purity, wisdom and leadership. |
En el a?o 1980, sirvi? al Ministerio de Seguridad P?blica como Polic?a y durante ocho a?os su prop?sito fue erradicar el alcoholismo en la comunidad de los Malek?. In 1980, he served the Ministry of Public Security as police officer during eight years and proposed to erradicate alcoholism in the Maleku community.
Pensando en el desarrollo de la comunidad fue director de Radio Sistema Cultural Malek?, y al mismo tiempo como locutor de radio incentivando programas educativos y culturales; donde se destac? por su ardua labor. Su participaci?n en radio fue por muchos a?os. He was made director of the Cultural Maleku Radio Station and at the same time he was spoke person for the radio promoting education and cultural programs where he was known for his hard work. He participated with the radio station’s broadcasting for many years.
Por sus caracter?sticas y gran sabidur?a fue llamado para la filmaci?n de una pel?cula llamada “El Dorado” como actor principal. Because of his characteristics and great wisdom, he was asked to partake in the movie El Dorado as Main actor.
Siempre representando su cultura particip? en la pel?cula “1592 La Conquista” que relata la llegada de Crist?bal Colon a Am?rica, junto con el actor franc?s Gerald Deperdiu, filmada en Costa Rica en 1992. Also, representing the culture in the movie “1592, La conquista” which illustrated the arrival of Christopher Columbus in America, with Gerald Deperdiu, he stared in this film in 1992.
Fue a representar el grupo de teatro Malek? a M?xico en el distrito Federal; viajo a Estados Unidos a diferentes ciudades entre ellas: Washitown D.C, B?falo, Miami, New York representando a Costa Rica como un ind?gena de Centro Am?rica. He represented theatrical group Maleku in Mexico in a Federal District. He travelled to the United Stated in different cities like: Washington, Buffalo, Miami, New York, representing Costa Rica as an Indigenous from Central America.
En 1994 llega a las pantallas costarricense con su nombre art?stico “Tafa” film? 24 cap?tulos en el programa llamado San Buena Ventura, un programa sobre el folclor costarricense. Su productor Jos? Cortes lo sigui? formando como actor en su programa representando un humilde ind?gena. Con su traje tradicional hecho de un ?rbol llamado Mastate, tras sus 24 cap?tulos sigui? colaborando en el programa Sin Fronteras transmitido en canal 7 de Costa Rica, un programa educativo y ecol?gico. In 1994, he appeared on Costarican TV series under is artist name TAFA and he played in 24 shows of the same program named SAN BUENA VENTURA, a TV show about Costarican folklor. His producer JOSE Cortes continued to train him as an actor in his program where he played a humble Indigenous. With his national costume made with a traditional tree called MASTATE, and in his 24 shows, he kept collaborating with the NO FRONTIERS program on channel 7, an educative and ecological program.
En ese mismo a?o represent? a Costa Rica en el programa S?bado Gigante en Santiago de Chile. The same year, he represented a Costa Rican program Sabado Gigante in Santiago de Chile.
Siempre amante a la madre naturaleza se consolido en el ?mbito tur?stico en su comunidad su prop?sito fue el rescate de la cultura, tradiciones por medio del turismo al mismo tiempo general ingresos a la comunidad creando oportunidades de empleo para j?venes y adultos, incentiv? la elaboraci?n de la artesan?a en toda la reserva ind?gena. Also, a lover of nature, he started started being active in the touristic enterprise in his community which represented the culture and traditions through cultural tours and adventure tours, this creating a general interest for the community and creating job opportunities for the youngsters and the adults in the arts and crafts.
Tafa un hombre valiente, reconocido l?der de la comunidad ind?gena Malek? entreg? su vida por los ind?genas y luch? por su cultura. Tafa a valliant man, a recognized leader of the Maleku Indigenous community devoted his life to the Indigenous and he fought for his culture.
Falleci? el 27 de abril de 2005 a sus 45 a?os de edad, su cuerpo descansa en su amada tierra ind?gena que lo vio nacer y crecer. He died on April 27th, 2005, at the age of 45. His body lies in the Indigenous ground that created him and gave him birth.

Sin duda sus familiares y comunidad siguen el ejemplo y sus ideales por el rescate de la comunidad Malek? y su cultura creando el centro tur?stico denominado Eco Cultura Malek? Tafa y un Museo en su memoria, donde se relata toda su trayectoria y lucha por su comunidad. Without any doubts, his Family and Community will follow his example and ideal to save and the MALEKU community and its culture creating the tourism center called ECO CULTURA MALEKU TAFA and a museum in his memory, where his life and battles for his community can be learned about.
